Short, honest, and about one thing.

This page covers two things: how we handle your email if you join the beta waitlist, and a plain-language statement of what Boom Catcher is for — and what it isn't. The app itself will have a separate, more detailed privacy policy at launch.

What Boom Catcher is for — and isn't

Boom Catcher is a traffic noise monitoring tool, not a surveillance device. Our intent is unambiguous, and the app is designed around it:

What it's designed to do:

• Listen for passing vehicles that exceed a noise threshold (default: 88 dB).
• Capture a short video clip — typically around 8 seconds — only when that threshold is crossed.
• Record the peak decibel level, timestamp, and approximate location alongside the clip.
• Store clips locally on your device unless you explicitly choose to export or share them.

What it's not designed to do:

• Continuously record audio or video. The camera and microphone are only active for short bursts when the noise threshold is crossed.
• Capture conversations. The app is built for documenting public street noise, not human speech. Clips are short and tied to vehicle pass-by events.
• Identify or track individuals. Boom Catcher doesn't run face recognition, license-plate OCR, or any other personal-identification step. It documents that something loud passed — not who.
• Operate inside private spaces or anywhere a reasonable expectation of privacy applies. It's meant for a phone mounted in a window or on a porch facing a public street.

Your responsibility as a user

Recording laws vary by state and country. You are responsible for using Boom Catcher in compliance with the laws of your jurisdiction, including:

• One-party vs. two-party consent rules (most U.S. states allow one-party consent for recordings made in public; a few do not).
• Local rules about video recording in public spaces.
• HOA, property, or neighborhood rules that may apply where you mount your phone.

We design Boom Catcher for public spaces and public road traffic. We do not endorse or support its use to record private conversations, neighbors' private property, or anyone in a place where they have a reasonable expectation of privacy. Misuse along those lines is both outside the spirit of the project and, depending on jurisdiction, potentially illegal.

If you're unsure whether a planned use is legal where you live, please check with a lawyer or your local consumer-protection office before deploying.

What we collect

When you submit the signup form on this page, we collect:

• Your email address.
• The date and time you submitted.
• Which form on the page you used (hero or sticky footer) so we can improve the design.

We do not collect your name, IP address, or any other information beyond what's listed above. The form is processed by Formspree, a third-party form service, and emails are stored there until we move the list to an email sender.

How we use it

One reason, one list: to email you occasional updates about the Boom Catcher beta — launch dates, invites, and a final "we're live" message. That's it.

• We do not sell your email.
• We do not share it with advertisers.
• We do not use it for any other product or company.

Unsubscribing

Every email we send includes a one-click unsubscribe link. You can also ask us to remove you at any time by replying to any email we've sent you — we'll delete your record within 10 business days.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete the personal data we hold about you (for example, under GDPR, UK GDPR, CCPA, or similar state laws). To exercise any of these rights, reply to any email you've received from us.
